New trial date set for woman connected to case of baby found in freezer
A Toledo woman who authorities believe is the mother of a baby found in an East Toledo freezer in April has a new trial date scheduled in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
Kenisha Pruitt, 20, of 2631 Scottwood Ave. is charged with aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.
Ms. Pruitt appeared in court today where Judge Linda Jennings set an Aug. 6 trial date. She remains in custody in lieu of an aggregate $1.9 million bond.
The baby was found April 13 in a freezer at a home in the 600 block of Paine Avenue where Ms. Pruitt and the baby’s presumed father, Antonio Cervantes, 18, of 5324 Rector Dr., had lived together. An autopsy showed that the baby had been born alive and probably lived two days or less, authorities said.
Mr. Cervantes has not yet been indicted in the case.
