New trial date scheduled in death of Toledo baby

BLADE STAFF

A Toledo woman who authorities believe is the mother of a baby found in an East Toledo freezer in April has a new trial date scheduled in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Kenisha Pruitt, 20, of 2631 Scottwood Ave. is charged with aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence. If convicted, she faces up to life in prison.

Ms. Pruitt appeared in court Monday, when Judge Linda Jennings set an Aug. 6 trial date. She remains in custody in lieu of $1.9 million bond.

The baby was found April 13 in a freezer at a home in the 600 block of Paine Avenue where Ms. Pruitt and the baby's presumed father, Antonio Cervantes, 18, of 5324 Rector Dr., had lived.
