FREMONT -- The Sandusky County Probate Court has begun accepting credit cards to pay marriage license fees.
Cash, money orders, and checks will continue to be accepted.
"We have had numerous requests from the public asking us to offer the convenience of using a credit cards to pay for their fees, so we are making it happen," said Judge Brad Smith, the county's juvenile and probate judge.
The court arranged with the county commissioners and other necessary offices to set up the system at no cost to the county. Credit-card users will be surcharged for credit-card processing fees.
Once the credit-card system is fully operational in the probate court, it will be expanded to Sandusky County Juvenile Court, where fines, court costs, and other payments also will be payable by credit card either in person, by telephone, or over the Internet.
