Trial date reset for man charged in fatal shooting

A new trial date was set Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a man charged with fatally shooting one man and injuring others March 16.

Kevin James, 21, of 425 Oakland St. asked for a new trial date because his attorney is involved in a trial in Detroit and is unavailable. Judge James Bates scheduled James’ trial to begin Aug. 28.

James is charged in the death of Montrese Moore, 19, at the Gas & Go at Cherry and Bancroft streets. Robee Ware, 19, and Creonna Ballard, 18, were injured. Police said the shots were fired from a sport utility vehicle Moore had approached and told its driver to leave the area.
