A Toledo man will serve 11 years in prison, including eight years for the June shooting of a man that left the victim paralyzed.
Breon Barnett, 20, of 527 Everett St. was ordered Tuesday to serve seven years in prison for felonious assault plus an additional one year for a gun specification. Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Stacy Cook also sentenced Barnett to three years in prison, to be served consecutively, for violating community control set in a 2010 burglary case.
Barnett was found guilty of felonious assault with a one-year gun specification after a plea on Oct. 16. Authorities said he robbed and shot Kenneth Downer, 29, in the back June 24 in the 500 block of Dexter Street.
