BGSU department chair guilty of drunken driving charges

The chairman of Bowling Green State University's department of architecture and environmental design was found guilty today in Toledo Municipal Court of various charges related to a drunken-driving incident.

Stanley G. Guidera, 56, of Perrysburg, was found guilty of two counts of disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, failure to stop after an accident, and operating a vehicle without reasonable control. Mr. Guidera plead no contest to all of the charges. One additional charge of driving under the influence within 20 years of a prior conviction was dropped.

Mr. Guidera was released on his own recognizance, according to court records.

Bowling Green State University had suspended Mr. Guidera with pay after the charges were filed in September. Mr. Guidera's current employment status was not immediately known.

According to documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court, Mr. Guidera is accused of striking Toledo Public Schools resource officer David Vnuck with his vehicle about 10 p.m. Sept. 21, then attempting to flee the scene.

The officer was not seriously injured.

The case has been referred to probation officials for a pre-sentencing investigation, court records state.
