A Whitehouse man was convicted Tuesday of growing and selling psychedelic mushrooms.
Matthew Thierry, 41, pleaded guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to illegal manufacture of drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, aggravated trafficking in drugs, and tampering with evidence. He faces up to 33 years in prison when he is sentenced March 28 by Judge Dean Mandros.
As part of a plea agreement, major-drug offender specifications were dismissed.
Thierry and five others were indicted last fall following the seizure of about 137 pounds of psychedelic mushrooms. In addition to the three drug charges, which each carry mandatory prison sentences, Thierry admitted to trying to dispose of evidence in the case.
