Ex-preparer found guilty in federal court of preparing false tax returns

A former tax preparer with H&R Block in Toledo was found guilty today by a jury in U.S. District Court on charges she prepared false tax returns between 2007 and 2009.

Wanda Love was convicted following a week-long trial of one count of conspiracy in the preparation of false tax returns and 59 counts of helping to prepare false tax returns. She faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced June 7 by Judge Jack Zouhary.

Federal prosecutors said Love prepared false tax returns for 59 clients that resulted in fraudulent tax refunds of $134,000. Co-defendant Sonya Moses, who recruited customers for Love, pleaded guilty in November to one count of conspiracy. She has not been sentenced.
