Bond for Toledo man, 21, charged with arson set at $2M

Bond for a Toledo man accused of setting ablaze furniture inside his grandmother's West Toledo home was set at more than $2 million on Thursday.

Kevin Lammie, 21, whose address is listed as “all over” on documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court, is charged with aggravated arson and aggravated burglary from the fire Wednesday morning.

Mr. Lammie was also in municipal court Thursday on other charges filed in the last week: domestic violence, menacing, and aggravated menacing. Bond for each of those charges was set at $25,000 each. He was being held in the Lucas County jail.

The domestic violence and menacing charges were filed against Mr. Lammie on March 8 after he allegedly told his grandmother, Barbara Lammie, 77, he was going to kill her and left her threatening voice mail and text messages, according to court documents.

Mr. Lammie was apparently living with his grandmother on Isha Laye Drive at the time and the two were having a fight about money, the documents state.

Two days later, Mr. Lammie was charged with aggravated menacing after he allegedly told a third party to tell Ms. Lammie that he would kill her, the suspect's uncle, and then himself, according to court documents.

Ms. Lammie filed a protection order in municipal court on Monday.

The dispute reportedly escalated Wednesday when Mr. Lammie allegedly broke into his grandmother's house by smashing a window to an attached garage.

Once inside, Mr. Lammie apparently fixed himself something to eat, watched television, and then poured gasoline from a container in the garage in multiple areas around the home.

Several pieces of furniture were then ignited, according to court documents.

Police said they found Mr. Lammie at the scene Wednesday, with burns on his hands, inside the residence carrying a large knife. Police said Ms. Lammie had been staying with neighbors because she was fearful of her grandson.

Ms. Lammie owns the one-story brick Isha Laye home, valued at $88,800. Damage was estimated at $7,500.
