Sylvania man faces child porn charges

A Sylvania man has been charged with possession of child pornography after U.S. Secret Service agents and Sylvania police say they found thousands of illegal images and videos on electronic devices seized at his home.

Mark Koltz, 26, of the 6000 block of Hawthorne Drive turned himself in to federal authorities Dec. 11 and was released from custody by Magistrate Judge James Knepp two days later after posting a $120,000 property bond.

According to an affidavit by Special Agent Steve Snyder of the Secret Service that was filed in U.S. District Court, investigators searched Mr. Koltz’s home Sept. 15 and seized computers, hard drives, and cell phones that allegedly contained 27,682 still images and 1,306 videos containing child pornography.

Mr. Koltz admitted he had been downloading the images since high school, that he viewed it at least once a week, and that he was “addicted to it,” according to the affidavit.
