Tatum named 'sexiest man alive'

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Channing Tatum is People magazine's "sexiest man alive" for 2012.

The 32-year-old actor says his first thought on hearing the news was: "'Y'all are messing with me.'"

Tatum's film roles include Magic Mike and the upcoming Foxcatcher.

Other actors who have received the "sexiest" label include George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, and Ryan Reynolds. Last year's "sexiest man" was Bradley Cooper.

People announced its 2012 list Wednesday.

Sandy relief

The Dave Matthews Band is giving $1 million to help Superstorm Sandy recovery efforts.

The band announced Wednesday that the Nov. 30 opening show of its winter tour at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., will be a benefit concert. All ticket and merchandise sales will go to the Bama Works Sandy Relief Fund, established at the Community Foundation of New Jersey.

Sandy's assault more than two weeks ago created widespread damage and power outages in New Jersey and New York.

The Grammy-winning group will wrap up its tour Dec. 22 in Philadelphia. Tickets are still on sale for the Nov. 30 show, which features Jimmy Cliff.

Overdose

Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter was hospitalized and facing drug charges Wednesday after overdosing on heroin in a dorm at her college in upstate New York, authorities said.

Stephanie Bongiovi was found unresponsive by an ambulance crew sent to Hamilton College early Wednesday after a report that a female had apparently overdosed in Dunham Hall, the school's largest dorm.

Town of Kirkland police investigator Peter Cania said Bongiovi, of Red Bank, N.J., was recovering at a hospital he declined to name.

Thankful

Elizabeth Banks has something else to be grateful for this Thanksgiving -- she and her husband have welcomed their second child.

Banks recently starred in the ensemble comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting and announced Wednesday on her Web site the arrival of Magnus Mitchell Handelman, who was born via gestational surrogate.

The baby joins his older brother, 20-month-old Felix, who also was born via surrogate after the 38-year-old star of The Hunger Games and producer husband Max Handelman faced infertility issues.

Says the new mom: "I now turn my attention to managing two boys under 2. For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful."

To accomplish the task, the historic theater's main-floor seats will be removed, and the stage will be extended.

Hines' history with the Apollo began when he was 7 and his brother, Gregory, was 5 years old.

"Apollo Club Harlem" will have three performances. Tickets go on sale Monday.
