Former Lucas County Prosecutor Anthony Pizza dies

Former Lucas County Prosecutor Anthony Pizza, 85, who worked in the prosecutor s office for 45 years, died Tuesday morning at Toledo Hospital.

Mr. Pizza, of Holland, Ohio, died after a brief illness.

A graduate of University of Toledo s College of Law, Mr. Pizza became county prosecutor in 1976 and served in that role for 20 years. He was hired as an assistant prosecutor in the office in 1951.

During his tenure, the number of prosecutors working in the office grew from 10 to 50.

He was a veteran of World War II.
