Starr collects denim for Habitat insulation

Starr Elementary's Student Council is collecting worn jeans and other denim items from Monday through April 23 to be made into insulation for Habitat for Humanity houses.

The drive will help Jerusalem Elementary student Erek Hansen reach his personal goal of collecting 6,000 denim items this year for the cause.

Last year, Erek collected 1,055 pairs of jeans, and First Solar Inc. in Perrysburg Township added over 600 more after hearing about his drive.

All other usable clothing items donated to Starr Elementary will be given to local charities.
