The Northwest Ohio School Board Association has set a 5K Run, Walk, or Crawl on Saturday to raise money for Lake Local Schools.
People of all ages and physical conditions are invited to participate in the event, which is to begin at 9:30 a.m. outside Lake High School at 28080 Lemoyne Rd. in Millbury.
Registration is $20. Participants can sign up at liftinguplake.com or on the day of the event between 7:30 and 9:15 a.m.
Each participant will receive a participation ribbon and a goodie bag that includes a $5 gift certificate. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category. Food and beverages will be available after completion of the 5K.
Judy Jackson May, the association's regional manager, said the goal is to raise $30,000. The money is to help Lake Local Schools recover and rebuild after the June 5 tornado that destroyed the high school.
Lake Local Schools is part of the Northwest Ohio School Board Association.
“We just wanted to do what we could to help them. We're all small districts and we realized [the tornado damage] could have happened to any one of our schools,” Ms. Jackson May said. “It's just our way of showing that we're all neighbors.”
