Portage River fest set for Depot Park

ELMORE -- The Elmore Historical Society’s 33rd annual Portage River Festival is to be Sunday at Depot Park.

The action starts at 7:30 a.m. at Woodmore High School with the Portage River Bicycle Tour. Cyclists can take different routes during the event sponsored by Hosteling International-Toledo Area.

Registration for the 5k run/walk starts at 8:30 at Elmore Cycle and Fitness, 435 Maple St. More information is available from Candy at 419-355-3322. The run/walk is to start at 10:30.

Bakers can drop off their cupcakes at the Elmore Depot from 9 to 10. Judging takes place at 10:30.

The Redneck Lawnmower Pulling Contest is to begin at 12:30 p.m. next to the Quonset hut at Depot Park. Registration is from 10 a.m. to noon. More information is available from Tim Erickson at 419-376-2639.

Other events include Heidi’s Twirlers, a twirling team from Woodville, Cow Patty Bingo (held by the Woodmore FFA), and car and tractor shows.
