Employers to pay more to unemployment fund
Ohio employers will pay about $216 on average for each worker next year as the rates used to calculate payments to the state's Unemployment Compensation Trust Fund increase slightly, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services announced yesterday.
The rates were increased to keep the fund solvent. The state average this year is about $207 a person. Employers are taxed on the first $9,000 paid annually to each covered employee. Rates next year will range from $18 to $720 per employee.
