Existing-home sales fall in area for January

Sales of existing single-family homes continued to slide in northwest Ohio last month, although prices in Lucas County rose, the Toledo Board of Realtors reported yesterday.

The area had 373 sales, down 11 percent from 418 in January, 2007. The average price fell 10 percent to $104,000 from $115,000. The average price in Lucas County, however, rose 4 percent to $104,000 even as sales declined 7 percent to 234.

Sales of condos were flat in Lucas County and were down 15 percent areawide. Prices were up 9 percent in Lucas County and 6 percent in northwest Ohio.
