Area firms plan to hold hiring steady, study says
Toledo-area employers expect to hire at a steady pace during the final three months of the year, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.
About 16 percent of companies interviewed plan to hire during the fourth quarter, and 6 percent plan to reduce staff. About three quarters expect to maintain current work-force levels and 2 percent said they weren’t sure.
The numbers are similar to what they were a year ago.
In Ohio as a whole, 15 percent of companies plan to hire and 8 percent plan to cut staff, Manpower said.
In Michigan, 17 percent of firms said they planned to hire and 8 percent predicted they would decrease staff levels.
