Owens Corning buys Chinese plant

Toledo-based Owens Corning announced Thursday an agreement to buy Tanaka Kikinzoku (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., a facility in China that makes bushings.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Tanaka Kikinzoku (Suzhou) makes glass fiber bushings and other parts for various glass industries in China. It will become part of Owens Corning GlassMetal Services, a wholly owned business unit that makes glass fiber bushings and related parts for the glass fiber industry.

“The acquisition of TKS gives Owens Corning the ability to better serve China, which is the largest and fastest-growing glass fiber country in the world,” said Arnaud Genis, president of Owens Corning Composite Solutions Business. “This completes Owens Corning’s global footprint of bushing facilities.”

Owens Corning also has bushing facilities in Singapore, the United States, Brazil, and Russia.
