The Toledo board of education will meet at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 14 to name a replacement for former board member Patricia Kennedy.
Miss Kennedy, 73, stepped down July 16, nearly six months before her four-year term was to expire. Colleagues said she resigned for health reasons.
The vacancy has prompted interest from the four candidates who have filed for election to the school board in the Nov. 6 general election. Board President Peter Silverman said people interested in the appointment will be given an opportunity to be heard before the board takes a vote.
The candidates are Becky Berry, Jeff Greeno, Anita Lopez, and Steve Steel. Incumbents Mr. Silverman and David Welch are running for re-election.
