Owens Community College broke ground yesterday for a $10 million Center for Fine and Performing Arts on its Perrysburg Township campus.

The 74,400-square-foot facility will feature a 520-seat theater, 50-seat music and lecture hall, and numerous classrooms, offices, and studios. It is expected to open in the fall, 2003.

Brian Bethune, artistic director of the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, will be the college's chair of fine and performing arts. He begins July 1 with a salary of $60,500.
