Kristen Bury, a senior from Sylvania, plans to study aerospace or chemical engineering and pursue a career with NASA. Her goal is to be an astronaut. She enjoys science and Spanish and carries a 4.6 grade point average.
Kristen has been on the honor roll for 12 quarters. She received a superior rating at District Science Day and an excellent rating at State Science Day. She was last year's recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Science Award and placed second in the poster competition at the Ohio Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.
She has participated in track and cross-country, is a member of the Spanish club, National Honor Society, and Science Olympiad, qualifying for the state competition in cell biology and genetics.
Kristen has volunteered at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, and has been a mentor for a local First League Lego Robotics Team. She tutors freshman.
"Kristen is a dedicated and enthusiastic student who constantly exhibits strong leadership qualities," said science research teacher Penny Cobau. "Her healthy outlook on life helps create a very positive atmosphere in the classroom."
Kristen is the daughter of Joel and Linda Bury.
