John Borell, an eighth-grader from Sylvania, hopes to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology someday to pursue a degree in computer programming. He enjoys math and science and carries a 4.0 grade point average.
John is an honor student, class president for the middle school grades and was this year's school spelling bee champion. He attends Toledo City Council and Lucas County Area Republican Committee meetings with his father and attends church regularly.
"John is an excellent student," said principal Mike Smurr. "He is well-liked by his peers and always willing to put in extra effort."
John is the son of John Borell.
