Gov. Taft appoints 2 members to BGSU board of trustees

COLUMBUS - Gov. Bob Taft appointed Debra Ryan, of Wadsworth, to the Bowling Green State University board of trustees yesterday.

He also named political science major Raquel Colon, of Curtice, as student trustee.

Ms. Ryan's nine-year term will begin May 18 when she replaces Leon D. Bibb, of Shaker Heights. She is vice president of the PDR Foundation Inc., a private family charitable foundation, and of the PDR Group, a family limited-partnership investment company.

She was previously a medical technologist for NEO Medical Center in Oklahoma and Fairfield Pathologists in Indiana. She is currently on the university's national campaign steering committee, campaign kickoff committee, and the college of arts and sciences board of advocates.

She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Bowling Green and received advanced training in medical technology at Barberton Citizens Hospital.

Ms. Colon will replace Matthew Clever, of Bay Village, as student trustee on May 18. Her term will last two years. She is president of the Latino Student Union and a member of the Diversity Leadership Team.
