ADRIAN - Adrian College officials announced they will name the college's newly remodeled student center after retiring President Stanley Caine.
Board of Trustees Chairman Gary Valade made the announcement at a dinner honoring Mr. Caine, who will retire June 30. He was president for 16 years.
The Ridge Student Center had been named for Everett Ridge and his wife, Julia Ridge, who graduated from Adrian in the early 1920s.
The center, originally known as Ridge Gymnasium, was home to Adrian athletics until 1990. A recent renovation has turned the facility into a 24-hour student center.
The Ridge family endorsed the name change. The student center's center court area will be named for the family to maintain its historical connection to Adrian College, school officials said.
