Student of the Week: Corey Monarch

Corey Monarch, a senior from Toledo, plans to major in history or international relations with a minor in Spanish. She hopes to go to law school after her undergraduate studies. Corey's favorite subjects are history, Spanish, and psychology, and she has a 4.4 grade-point average.

Corey has been on the president's list throughout her four years at St. Ursula and is the recipient of the University of Rochester's Bausch and Lomb science award, the Kodak Young Leader's award, and the St. Michael's College book award for scholarship and service.

She is a member of the Zontambassador club, Campus Ministry core team, and National Honor Society, and she plays varsity softball and cross country. Corey has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Adopt America and participated in Youth Elect Services projects. She was selected to attend Buckeye Girls' State as well as the United States Coast Guard Academy's summer AIM program last summer.

"Corey has set a commendable example at St. Ursula as the complete student, academically, athletically, and in leadership and services," said science teacher Jackie Kane. "As president of the science club, she has been instrumental in its success."

Corey is the daughter of Matt and Tina Monarch.
