Dave McMurray, who has served as assistant principal at Southview High School for two years, last night was appointed principal of the school, effective Aug. 1.
The Sylvania Board of Education awarded Mr. McMurray a two-year contract. He will be paid $94,510 a year.
Southview's current principal, Jeffrey Kurtz, is retiring from the district. The board last night accepted his resignation, effective July 31.
Mr. Kurtz, who has been with the Sylvania district six years, recently was hired as career-technical director at Penta Career Center.
