Lenawee public schools to get $4.5M more aid

TIPTON, Mich. Public schools in Lenawee County are in line to receive a $4.5 million increase for the next school year as a result of the state s budget approved Wednesday, state Rep. Dudley Spade said yesterday.

Mr. Spade, a Democrat from Tipton, said the increase represents an average $233 increase in the per student foundation allowance for the 11 school districts in Lenawee County.

In addition, $207,000 will be forthcoming to help schools improve math and science performance in middle schools, and $146,000 will be provided to help fight declining enrollment in the county.
