Fostoria school board OKs teachers contract

FOSTORIA The Fostoria school board has approved a new three-year contract with the Fostoria Education Association, which represents 181 teachers.

Under the pact approved Monday night, teachers will receive a 3 percent raise the first year and 2.5 percent increases in each of the next two years.

The contract, which is effective July 1, promises a $500 per teacher bonus in each of the three years if the district achieves effective status and meets the average yearly progress on the state report card.

Also Monday, the board accepted the resignation of Middle School Principal Kathleen Leitzy, effective Oct. 31. She has been with the district 26 years.
