A Chicago man has been named associate vice president for development at the University of Toledo's health science campus, a new position.
Howard Newman, 54, who will be paid $146,000 and will start at UT next month, most recently was vice president of development for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Mr. Newman said he will work to build recognition and philanthropic support of the UT Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio Hospital.
He also has held a number of positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago, including associate dean for advancement in the college of medicine, chief development officer for the University of Illinois Medical Center, and vice president for the University of Illinois Foundation.
He also has worked as chief development officer at the Detroit Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
