Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has declared next month Financial Aid Awareness Month in support of College Goal Sunday.

The proclamation supports efforts to increase awareness of financial aid options for students seeking higher education.

The local schools hosting the event include Owens Community College, both its Perrysburg Township and Findlay campuses; Bowling Green State University Firelands Campus, Huron, Ohio; Defiance College, Defiance; Terra Community College, Fremont, and Lima Senior High School, Lima, Ohio.

In Michigan, Monroe County Community College in Monroe also will participate.
