Toledo Catholic Diocese honors nine area teachers

Nine teachers from the Toledo Catholic Diocese were given the Golden Apple Award by Bishop Leonard Blair in recognition of time and talent they devote to Catholic Education.

Each recipient received $5,000, a Golden Apple keepsake decorated with a gold cross, and a lapel pin. The award is funded by the Jack and Rhodora Donahue Family Foundation of Pittsburgh.

The winners are Jennifer Bine of St. Pius X Elementary, JoAnna Brouwer of Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary, Brian Clark of Central Catholic High School, and Maureen VanDePutte of St. Clement Elementary, all in Toledo; Anne Asher of St. Peter Elementary in Huron, Steve Kohler of St. Mary Central Catholic High School in Sandusky; Lisa Marie Mahler of St. Charles Elementary in Lima; Betsy Ross Hug of St. Mary Elementary in Edgerton, and Jean Tennill of Immaculate Conception Elementary in Bellevue.
