AEP Ohio gives $25,000 for Owens scholarships
Owens Community College has received $25,000 from a scholarship grant program funded by a large electric utility.
The scholarship money comes from AEP Ohio, a unit of American Electric Power.
It will be awarded to students who are customers of the utility and whose family incomes are no more than twice the federal poverty level.
Preference will be given to those who are training for utility-industry careers.
Owens is among nine Ohio two-year colleges to receive such scholarship money.
