PORT CLINTON — The Port Clinton Board of Education has approved drawings for a new middle school, setting the stage for preparing construction documents for the bidding process that is to begin in January.
The project's construction manager is RJ Runge Inc.
The exterior was designed to match the rest of the high school campus, Superintendent Patrick D. Adkins said. The design resembles the performing Arts Center built in 1991. Groundbreaking is set for March 1.
School officials said classes will start there in the 2012-2013 school year.
The middle school, part of the district's $42 million school construction and renovation project, is to be built on the northwest corner of the high school site off Jefferson Street.
The new building is being financed by a 3.63 mill, 37-year bond issue that voters approved in 2009.
