The Toledo School for the Arts received the Arts Education award Wednesday at the Governor's Awards for the Arts ceremony in Columbus.
The charter school was among eight winners of the awards, which are presented by the Ohio Citizens for the Arts Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council.
Nearly 70 nominations were submitted for the awards.
"Since its founding in 1999, the Toledo School for the Arts has become a national model for arts education and a perfect example of the transformative impact the arts have on students," a Governor's Award's biography says.
