He was one of two professors from the United States among the top ten vote-getters, topping nominees from such presitigious business schools as Harvard, Duke, Michigan, Ohio State, Cornell, Penn, Virginia, Northwestern, and Stanford.

Four finalists will be invited to London for a live global "teach-off" in March. Those finalists will be announced Feb. 4. They will be chosen from among the ten top vote-getters and five additional professors chosen by the panel of judges.

The award, presented by The Economist and sponsored by the Hult International Business School, was created to recongnize the best business professor in the world. Mr. Longenecker was nominated by former students.

"It is wonderful for the UT College of Business and Innovation to be represented in the top ten, especially given the global competition," Mr. Longenecker said in a statement released by the university.

"This was a very competitive process against some of the best business school professors in the world, and I am very appreciative that our university, students, and alumni base were actively engaged in the selection process," Mr. Longenecker said. "I want to thank all those who participated in the process and let people know that this has been a very humbling and rewarding experience."
