Convicted professor has ‘last chance’ from BGSU

BOWLING GREEN — A Bowling Green State University professor convicted in a Sept. 21 drunken-driving incident has entered into a “last chance agreement” with the university.

Stanley G. Guidera, 56, of Perrysburg signed an agreement earlier this month under which he will continue to be employed at BGSU with the condition that he complete a 17-week alcohol counseling and rehabilitation program, that he satisfy the terms of his court-ordered probation, and that he not engage in any conduct that would violate his probation.

If he were to engage in any such conduct during the next three years, Mr. Guidera would be “immediately terminated," the agreement states.

Mr. Guidera returned to work on Jan. 7 but is no longer chairman of the architecture and environmental design department.

In Toledo Municipal Court on Jan. 8, he was ordered to serve seven days in jail and placed on probation for a year after being convicted of two counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of driving under the influence, failure to stop after an accident, and failure to maintain reasonable control.
