Board approves purchase of new math series

BLADE STAFF

The Eastwood Local Schools board of education has approved Go Math as the new math series for kindergarten through fifth grades at a cost of $10,000 per year for three years. The intention is to adopt the series for grades six through eight when it becomes available.

The new math series is needed to comply with more rigorous state standards. Margy Brennan-Krueger, the school improvement specialist, and teacher for the gifted Mike Godfrey evaluated math products and recommended Go Math.

In other district news, Marlene Hoodlebrink is retiring as a cook at Pemberville Elementary and Elaine Grolle as multipurpose aide at Luckey Elementary.
