Dominion East Ohio seeks higher base rates

LIMA, Ohio Dominion East Ohio gas company will request a change in its base rates, the first since 1983, that will raise the average monthly gas bills by $1.32 for residents in six northwest Ohio counties starting next spring.

The utility expects to file its request with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio by mid-August. Base rates are for gas transmission, maintenance, and pipeline construction everything but the cost of gas.

Dominion East, of Cleveland, has 78,000 customers in western Ohio, including 45,000 in Allen County, 1,300 in Hancock County, 3,500 in Hardin County, 200 in Paulding County, 3,000 in Putnam County, and 5,000 in Van Wert County.
