Columbia Gas upgrades meters in Findlay area

FINDLAY — Columbia Gas of Ohio said yesterday it has completed installation of a new automated meter reading system in the Findlay area and will switch over to monthly meter readings next week.

The utility upgraded 45,000 gas meters in a territory which includes Ada, Bowling Green, Carey, Elmore, Findlay, Fostoria, North Baltimore, Pemberville, and Woodville. The meters have a radio device that transmits meter data to nearby Columbia Gas vehicles for quicker readings than by readers walking between houses.

Similar devices are being installed elsewhere in its service area.
