Marathon to donate $1M to Gulf region

FINDLAY — Marathon Petroleum Corp. said Thursday that it would donate $500,000 to the American Red Cross in Louisiana and $500,000 to local charities in the Gulf region to provide support for families impacted by Hurricane Isaac.

Marathon Petroleum, the nation’s fifth-largest refiner, suspended operations at its 490,000-barrels-a-day refinery in Garyville, La., because of the hurricane, but the facility did not receive significant damage.
