Columbia Gas sets rate for month at 49 cents

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. will charge customers 49 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas this month, the utility said Thursday. The rate is based on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s closing price of 34 cents per hundred cubic feet plus 15 cents for a state-approved service fee.

A year ago, the gas utility’s rate for January was 50 cents per hundred cubic feet, and its December rate was 52 cents. Columbia Gas said that with the new rate, the average residential bill for January will be $108.59.
