HS baseball: Central vs. St. John's: 5-4

On the eve of the start of sectional baseball tournament play around Ohio, Central Catholic's Jake Rudnicki and St. John's Jesuit's Jesse Adams staged a pitching duel worthy of a classic tourney matchup Friday night. In a game that took just 90 minutes to complete, Rudnicki, a junior right-hander, was just a hair better than the Titans' senior ace lefty as host Central (10-10, 5-3) squeaked out a 1-0 Three Rivers Athletic Conference victory at Mercy Field.

The 17th Annual Taste of the Nation was held Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Toledo Club. The event welcomed a sold-out crowd of nearly 1,000. In the games, WLS students with disabilities compete against each other in track and field events. Members of the Whitmer High School Girls' Track team are paired with the participants to serves as guides/mentors/coaches and to assist on wheelchair events.
