Scientists in Congregations Speaker Series

Sylvania United Church of Christ's Scientists in Congregations speaker series follows the church's monthly drop-in dinners from January to May 2012. All are welcome to come to the dinners beforehand starting at 6 p.m. A free-will offering for the dinners will be taken, with proceeds supporting the church's outreach. The speakers will begin at 7 p.m. The series continues May 21 (What does it mean to be a member of human society? With Father James Bacik of Corpus Christi). The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists hosted its 24th Annual Black History Banquet. The Black Swamp Conservancy held a Blue and Green Acres event. Toledo-area families enjoyed an Easter brunch at Toledo Country Club. The Ronald McDonald House Charities held a Heartwarming party, and the Latino & Community Resource Center hosted the 2012 Cesar Chavez Humanitarian Awards at Owens Community College. Firefighters blaze special birthday for ill boy, 10

Faced with the choice of several ladder trucks, a fire engine, water tanker, or ambulance, Hunter Bute decided to ride in the shiny red "heavy" engine fire truck. The parade of Perrysburg Township fire equipment that showed up Friday at Hunter's home on Lime City Road for his birthday was the first surprise for the 10-year-old boy who has Takayasu's arteritis, a rare vascular disease.
