Local pros qualify for PGA National Championship

Local golf professionals Nick Myers (Highland Meadows) and Nick Szymanski (South Toledo) finished tied for second yesterday at the Northern Ohio PGA Championship at Lakewood Country Club. In doing so, both qualified for the 2008 PGA Professionals National Championship next June at Reynolds Plantation, near Atlanta.

Myers fired rounds of 71-68 for a 3-under 139 total, while Szymanski, the leader after the first round, went 65-74-139. Both lost on the first hole of a suddendeath

playoff to Todd Lancaster of Aurora. Each earned $2,000 for his second-place finish.
