City League: Barksdale's 4 scores pace Central victory

Senior running back Derek Barksdale scored four touchdowns on runs of 3, 14, 20, and 7 yards to lead Central Catholic to a 39-11 romplast night at Perrysburg.

The tailback rushed for 165 yards on 31 attempts. The Fighting Irish rushed for 218 yards and added 103 yards passing.

Perrysburg (0-2) opened the scoring with a 46-yard field goal by Tyler Custer. But Central built a 26-3 halftime lead and scored 32 unanswered points.

Central quarterback Dan Amato threw two touchdown passes: a nine-yard pass to Luke Gardner and a 40-yard pass to Ryne Robinson.

Neither team committed a turnover.

Nathan Parseghian hit field goals of 42 and 37 yards as St. John's Jesuit emerged from a defensive struggle with University of Detroit High at Rogers.

Sam Kettinger led St. John's on the ground with 41 yards on 12 carries as the Titans had just 109 yards of total offense and U of D High had 161.

Titan safety Austin Mayberry sparked the defense with several good hits.

Senior tailback Chris Jones scored on a 34-yard punt return and added 115 yards rushing on nine carries to lead Maumee (2-0).

Maumee, which lead 41-0 at halftime, held Woodward to negative-1 yard rushing until Kalfani Rice broke a 81-yard run for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Maumee quarterback Alex Reese scored on a seven-yard run and threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to James Kaczorowski.

Woodward gave up one fumble and two interceptions.

Brandon Hedges ran for 155 yards on just nine carries and scored three touchdowns to pace Clay.

Hedges' TDs came on runs of five and 50 yards, and on a 75-yard punt return.

Ross Graham scored twice for Clay, on a 26-yard run and a five-yard run.

Ricky Moore scored from 11 yards out, Brian McDougle from seven and Matt Pavley six.

Clay ran for 389 yards and passed for 50.

Waite passed for 169 but could manage just 14 on the ground.

Springfield exploded to a 34-0 lead in the third quarter and held on for the victory.

Senior running back Taylor Taube scored on runs 3 and 60 yards to lead the Blue Devils (1-1). Taube picked up 131 yards on 14 carries.

Marquis Hayes added 98 yards on 13 attempts, scoring on a 26-yard fumble return.

Junior running back Antwan Harvin led Bowsher (0-2) with 167 yards on 30 carries, including a 25-yard touchdown burst.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio - Emite Davis ran for 163 yards on 15 carries, including a 60-yard touchdown run, and Jacoba Clark scored on an 80-yard kick return, but Libbey fell in overtime.

Gordon Hagen hit a 28-yard field goal in OT for the Cowboys, but North Ridgeville countered with a touchdown.
