Schmidt's OT goal propels St. John's

Bobby Schmidt scored on a loose ball seven minutes into overtime as St. John's Jesuit defeated Northview 3-2 in the Division I boys district soccer final at Anthony Wayne yesterday.

Zach Hillesland scored twice for the Titans, while Justin Weldon and Adam Hirschfeld had goals for Northview.

St. John's will face Medina in the regional semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Findlay High School.

PERRYSBURG 2, MANSFIELD MADISON 1

Ryan Konz kicked the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the defending state runner-up Yellow Jackets to a Division I victory at Findlay yesterday.

Andrew Traber also scored for Perrysburg (12-3-4). Casey Latchem contributed eight saves for the Jackets, who sent Madison (17-1-1) to its first loss of the season.

Perrysburg advances to a regional semifinal against North Olmsted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lexington High.

MAUMEE VALLEY 1, RIVERDALE 0

VAN BUREN - Andrew Bishara scored early in the second half and the Hawks beat Riverdale for a Division III district championship.

Tenth-ranked Maumee Valley (18-1) moves on to a 7 p.m. regional semifinal game Tuesday at Elida High versus Mansfield Christian, which won its district on its home field.
