Prep basketball roundup: Rebels rally in fourth

VAN WERT - Bowsher blasted Van Wert 25-11 in the fourth quarter for a 57-54 victory last night in boys basketball.

Anthony Pettaway scored 13 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and Ken Hairston hit the winning 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds remaining as part of a 15-point night.

Bowsher improved to 11-7 and Van Wert fell to 13-4.

CLAY 51, NORTHVIEW 49

Wes Taylor connected on two free throws with three seconds left in the game, and Brett McDougle scored 12 points for the visiting Eagles (14-5).

Derek Andrzejcak scored 10 points for Northview.

START 54, ANDERSON 43

Matt Foley scored 17 and Grant Maxey had 12 as Start (10-6) topped the visitors from Southgate, Mich. The Spartans hit 14 of 18 free throws.

MAUMEE 53, WAITE 36

Lamonte Dawson scored 13 points and Maumee (13-5) led 24-12 by halftime. Mack Wortham scored 15 for Waite.

ELIDA 66, CENTRAL 37

ELIDA - Jason Sarno led Elida (15-3) with 14 points. Dan Amato and Ryan Gast scored 10 apiece for Central (11-7).

COLUMBIAN 42,

TIFFIN - Perrysburg's Scott Perkins scored 18 and Jamie Casey had 11. Robert Kisabeth led Columbian with 10.

Each team is 14-4.

Andrew Riley hit seven of nine shots from beyond the arc to lead Anthony Wayne with 21 points. Tony Zacharias added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Brent Papenfuss added 10 points.

PEMBERVILLE - The Blue Devils led by four at the half and at the end of the third quarter before finishing off the Eagles with a 13-9 advantage in the final quarter.

Springfield's Fletcher Noble led all scorers with 16 points. Chris Liber added 10 for the Blue Devils (8-9).

Trent Rahe led Eastwood (8-10) with 14 points.

TONTOGANY - The Tigers made a 15-8 second-quarter advantage hold up.

Andrew Quigley and Eric Wymer did the most damage for Liberty Center (13-5), scoring 16 points apiece, with Wymer tallying nine in the second quarter. Brennan Flory added 10.

Tyler Getz scored 16 for Otsego (12-6), with Jordan Murphy and Trevor Meyers adding 12 and Mark Kidd 10.

FINDLAY - Brook Crawford scored 18 and Nathan Hyde had 16 for Liberty-Benton.

Ron Diaz had 11 for Lakota.

WAUSEON - Michael Schrock scored 14, Justin Rufenacht 13 and Alex Nafziger 12 as Pettisville hit 58 percent from the field.

EVERGREEN 54, DELTA 46

DELTA - Chris Pfund scored 18 and Tyler Winn had 11 for Evergreen. Ryan Shackleford led Delta with 12 and Kyle Bostater had 10.

BRYAN 67, PAULDING 50

BRYAN - Tyler Holabaugh paced Bryan with 21 points, Jason Keeler had 11 and Tyler Smith and Joe Silva 10 each.

ST. WENDELIN 69,

DANBURY 66

LAKESIDE - Two free throws by Adam Tiell in a second overtime eventually closed out the win for Fostoria St. Wendelin, which handed the Lakers (17-1) their first loss of the season despite 43 points from Jake Fanning.

Jordan Johnson's late 3-pointer for the Mohawks (15-3) extended the game into a second overtime. Tiell finished with 17 points for St. Wendelin.

Kyle Bensch scored 18, Sam Heisman 15 and Blake Powell 10 for Toledo Christian (13-5).

Brad Betz led Swanton (3-16) with 12.

MONCLOVA CHRISTIAN 43, NORTHWOOD 41

Matt Velazquez scored 18 points and Derek Merrin had 11 for Monclova Christian.

Matt Triggs (12 points) hit four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Rangers (4-16), who outscored the visitors 19-12 to draw close.

Scott Nietz threw in 24 points, Brian Dunnett added 16 and Kris Benefiel had 10 as the Warriors (9-11) won their opening Association of Christian Schools International tournament game.

Billy Powell scored 20 for visiting Warren Christian (7-11), which trailed 44-8 at the half.

NAPOLEON 50, FINDLAY 44

NAPOLEON - Jeremy Davis led Napoleon with 17 and Larry Ward added 14. Brad Sutton had 17 for Findlay.

FAYETTE 41, HICKSVILLE 40

FAYETTE - Heath Armstrong scored 25 for Fayette.

LAKE 58, OTTAWA HILLS 49

Joylette Daniels scored 13 points and Joy Kubuske added 12 to pace Lake (10-10).

Rachel Garber led Ottawa Hills (8-12) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Kelsey Netter scored 13.

Ottawa Hills led 24-21 at halftime, but Lake came back with an 18-8 advantage in the third quarter.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 54,

MAUMEE VALLEY 49

Emily Cellier scored 20 points, and forced overtime with a basket with 23 seconds left in regulation. Tammi Duvall added 11 and Jill Whitlow 10 for visiting Toledo Christian.

Alexis Holman had 22 points and 23 rebounds for Maumee Valley.

EVERGREEN 39, DELTA 35

DELTA - Kelley Beer scored 13 and Crystal Skeldon had 12 for Evergreen (11-9). Lauren Ruple led Delta (5-15) with 13.

NORTH BALTIMORE - The Patriot girls matched their best season ever at 19-1 as Amanda Coressel scored 14, Jenna Inselmann 11 and Danielle Collins 10.

Kelly Harrington had 31 points and 11 rebounds as Emmanuel Baptist romped in an ACSI district tournament game.

HURON 49, OAK HARBOR 38

HURON - Kate Littne led Huron with 19 points. Brittany Slauterbeck scored 10 for Oak Harbor.
