NWOAL: Patrick Henry ties league record for consecutive wins

DELTA - Patrick Henry tied the NWOAL record for consecutive league wins - 24 - but Delta made the Patriots work last night before falling 28-14.

Drew Kuesel scored on touchdown runs of 9 and 12 yards to cap PH's scoring.

The Patriots (6-0, 5-0) also got a 36-yard scoring pass from Zack George to Brad Leonard and an eight-yard strike from George to Marc Krauss.

Delta (3-3, 1-3) got touchdown runs of seven yards by Mike Vicars and three yards by Derrick Vicars.

Patrick Henry ran for 92 yards and passed for 206. Delta ran for 152 and passed for 108.

Liberty Center previously win 24 consecutive NWOAL games.

Liberty Center 71,

Swanton 19

LIBERTY CENTER - Paul Smith scored four long touchdowns as Liberty Center (5-1, 4-1) rolled.

Smith scored on passes of 67 and 45 yards from Brian Babcock, a 63-yard punt return and a 90-yard kick return.

Babcock also hit Andrew Hilt for a 16-yard score as the Tigers passed for 171 yards to go along with 217 rushing.

Swanton (0-6, 0-5) ran for 150 and passed for 72 with Chris Goin scoring on runs of 15 and 2 yards and an eight-yard pass from Ben Gustafuson.

Wauseon 36, Bryan 17

BRYAN - Wauseon scored on big plays to beat Bryan.

The Indians (4-2, 3-1) got a 36-yard run from Ray Martinez, a 35-yard run by Jacob Unger, an 82-yard kick return by Martinez, a 35-yard pass from Aaron Emans to Martinez and a 58-yard run by Dana Demaline, who finished with 109 yards on just eight carries.

Bryan (3-3, 2-2) got a 23-yard field goal by Andy park and a pair of TD tosses by Jamie Lorentz - eight yards to Tyler Smith and 15 to Derek Hartsock.

Wauseon ran for 297 yards and passed for 47 while Bryan had 147 rushing and 260 passing.

Montpelier 40,

Archbold 26

MONTPELIER - Josh Daft ran for 224 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns to pace Montpelier (4-2, 3-2).

Daft scored on runs of 22, 11, 63 and 1 yards.

Jeremy Geesey scored twice for the Locomotives on runs of 4 and 52 yards.

Gene Goering paced Archbold (1-4, 1-3) with three one-yard scoring runs and an 11-yard TD pass to Jack Fidler.

Montpelier ran for 360 yards and added 110 passing while Archbold ran for 87 and passed for 143.

Evergreen 21,

Ottawa Hills 13

Brandon Truckor's six-yard touchdown run in overtime ended up being the game-winner for Evergreen at Ottawa Hills.

Evergreen quarterback Tyler Winn followed Truckor's run with a successful two-point conversion plunge to put the Vikings (3-3) up by eight. On the Green Bears' (4-2) ensuing drive, quarterback Sam Miller was picked off by Winn to seal the game.

Winn finished 2-of-5 passing for 75 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown thrown to Paul Hilton. Miller was 19-for-35 for 238 yards and a 13-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Crooks.

Truckor led the Viking rushing attack with 12 carries for 123 yards and the game-winning score.
