TAAC: Wielinski's 119 yards pace Northwood win

Preston Wielinski rushed 15 times for 119 yards and a touchdown as Northwood took a 14-7 Toledo Area Athletic Conference victory last night over Hilltop.

Wielinski scored on a one-yard run in the first quarter to get the Rangers (3-3, 2-0) on the scoreboard. P.J. McKibben scored from the 2 to give Northwood a 14-0 lead at the half.

Josh Westfall scored from the 1 for Hilltop (3-3, 0-2) in the third quarter.

Northwood compiled 297 yards rushing and added 31 through the air. Hilltop ran for just 55 yards and got 145 through the air.

Evergreen 61,

Ottawa Hills 14

Evergreen racked up 384 rushing yards on 38 attempts in a game it led 48-7 at halftime.

Paul Hilton (10 carries, 101 yards), Chris Pfund (eight carries, 114 yards) and Brandon Truckor (four carries, 61 yards) each had two rushing touchdowns. Truckor also scored on a 45-yard pass from Corey Truckor.

John Mattson and Nick Weissenberger also had rushing touchdowns for Evergreen (5-1, 3-1), which had eight total.

Danbury 27, Edon 21

LAKESIDE - Nick Weidenhoft completed 10 of 19 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns to Ben Cantu (123 yards) as the Lakers downed the Bombers.

Weidenhoft scored on an 11-yard run to tie the score at 6 in the second quarter, then threw 15, 42 and 40-yard touchdown passes to Cantu, the last proving to be the winner with 2:34 to play as Danbury (2-4, 1-2) scored 21 points in the fourth quarter.

Jamie Laney caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Alex Sonneberger for Edon (0-6, 0-3). Zach Sidle scored for the 21 to put the Bombers up 13-6 in the third quarter.

Adam Wakefield (13 carries, 76 yards) added a two-yard TD run in the fourth.

Edon gained 302 yards while Danbury racked up 325.
